My room is really tidy and I always wash everything but it smells really boring. Is there anything I can make at home which would give it a more inviting smell but not that intence.
Im allergic to most of those chemical sprays like frabeze and very sensitive to candle smells.

It wouldn't be a constant smell, but microwave a bowl of water with orange slices and cinnamon in it. It's a great smell but not constant.
Have you ever smelled Scentsy candles? They are warmed and not burned. I have a friend who is severely bothered by burning candles but was pleasantly surprised by Scentsy's smells.
I can send you a small wax sample if you'd like to try it out. Feel free to email me through my profile. Good luck finding something that works for you!

What do you think? Answer below!
You could try potpourri, made from petals of flowers you like. Or sticks of cinnamon tied in bundles. Drops of vanilla from the kitchen on squares of cloth, or use your favorite perfume. If you have carpet in your room, sprinkle baby powder or your after bath powder on it, leave it there for about ten or fifteen minutes, then vacuum it up. Hope this helps, Good Luck! :)

ReplyDeleteSkip the popular air fresheners: Popular air fresheners, like Glade and Oust smell good, but not always natural. They don't last very long, so you have to keep spraying them. And breathing in those aerosol fumes all day can be damaging to your health and the environment.
Potpourris can be overpowering within a few inches of the bowl, but completely useless a few feet away, no matter how pretty they are.
Instead, try using a more natural solution, such as rose water, lavender oil, or coffee beans where you want to freshen. Rose water can be bought online, and in many grocery stores. It is used as a food additive, a skin treatment and a hair rinse, so it is gental, and generally easy to find, or make yourself if you wish. Set it out in a bowl, or put it in a spray bottle and use it as a fabric refresher.
The scent lasts quite a bit longer than Febreze or other store bought kinds.
Lavender oil can be bought in any candle or housewares section and can be used the same way. Also, try rubbing a little on light bulbs around the house and you'll get a fresh scent every time you flip on the light.
Coffee beans work to neutralize odors. Grind them up, put them in the foot of an old pair of pantyhose and place them in your refrigerator as you would baking soda. Or leave them whole and put them in a decorative bowl on your entryway table. Poor a little ground coffee into the bottom of a clean kitchen trash can before putting the bag in to keep it smelling better than a trash can should.
Step2
Citrus is your new best friend: How many cleaning products out there use a lemon or orange scent to sell their product? This is because both do a SUPERB job of neutralizing odors and adding a fresh, long lasting scent. But why spend money on those expensive store brands, when you've got the real thing in your kitchen?
Drop a lemon and/or orange slice into your garbage disposal and turn it on. The orange works to dissolve grease and break up food, while the lemon leaves a nice, subtle, clean scent. You can also use both fruits as a cleaning aid on surfaces.
Cut a lemon in half and scrub your bathtub with it, or squeeze a little orange and that good old lavender oil (mentioned earlier) into a spray bottle of water to dissolve grease and disinfect your counter-tops. The lavender will also act as a disinfectant.
Use a little baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice to clean out those smelly sinks, drains, and toilets. This is an absolutely exquisite mixture! The baking soda works as a mild abrasive, removing water stains and grime, and when mixed with household vinegar, which is also a disinfectant (and a WONDERFUL streak-free glass cleaner!)it fizzes, acting as a foaming pipe cleaner would to get deep down into those drains. The added lemon juice, of course, works to keep these areas smelling their best.
Step3
House plants aren't just for decoration: Many people don't realize that a green house plant has more than just one function. They also help cut down on household odors. As we all know, plants release oxygen into the air, improving the air quality. Setting a few healthy green house plants here and there can help to keep the air a little fresher in those rooms. Just don't over do it. You don't want a jungle in your home and you don't want to over water the plants. Not only could it kill them, but if the soil in the pot is too wet, the dirt can release mold spores, potentially causing the growth of mold around the house. Keep it simple.
_______________
Turn off the air on nice days and open your windows. Nothing removes bad smells better than a fresh breeze.
Consider having your heating and air conditioning ducts cleaned at least every other year. Nothing is worse than turning on your heat and having bad smells waft up through the vents.
you can buy essential oils from a drug store and put a couple drops on a cotten ball then place cotten balls around the room in discreet places
