Not exactly sure. The best way is to steam them very thoroughly. I usually put mine in a medium sized sauce pan and add about 1/2 a cup of water to the bottom, put a lid on and let it steam for about a half an hour, depending on how cold the beans were (frozen, fresh, refrigerated...) just keep an eye on them every once in a while, but not too often other wise it'll take longer because you're letting all the steam out...

I know that you can roast them with a popcorn popper and grind them, but I can't imagine cooking them like say, green beans - they would be bitter.
