I heard someone in passing today say that they lost a ton of weight after they gave up coffee... Is that possible? I mean, I've read that having a cup of coffee a day can be good for you, and aid in your metabolic rate... So does giving it up really mean a weight loss?

I gave it up like 5 months ago, and went to green tea instead and have definitely lost weight, and I would never go back to coffee.
Instead I eat an apple for energy.
I'm not sure it is so much the coffee that helps you lose weight its more of what you eat or drink to replace the coffee.

Giving up a latte with whipped cream and sugar will cut the calories and help you lose weight. Giving up black coffee probably won't because caffeine consumption helps you lose weight.
ReplyDeleteNo, cutting coffee does not help you lose weight, unless it's daily high fat/high sugar lattes and such from Starbucks that you've been drinking. Those can really add on pounds ... but regular coffee with a little creamer or Splenda ... cutting that will not help you lose.
ReplyDeleteThe key for losing weight is not difficult - consume less and workout more often - the problems appear when we in reality try to put that into operation! There are lots of opportunities to fail in the real world aren't there?! The only thing that really delivered for me is wu-yi tea, it can be checked out in the resource box below, they have a few free trials in stock, it has been featured in Fox News and USA Today. I lost twenty pounds, it really does produce success!
ReplyDeletecoffee contains caffiene wich is a stimulant and should help keep weight down (not a good way to stay slim though)
ReplyDeletemaybe the person you spoke to used to eat bicuits with the coffee?
It depends how you like your coffee.. if it's with cream and sugar.. than yes you will lose weight if you give it up.
ReplyDeletehere is an example:
2 tablespoon cream = 100 calories, and 12 g fat . Add your sugar ...
2 teaspoons of sugar = 30 calories , then times that by how many cups of coffee you have a day.. and you'll be amazed by how much calories coffee can have.
But you can still enjoy your coffee and not have to count the calories... Use low fat milk instead of cream and and low calorie sweetener like splenda... instead of sugar. and watch your intake of coffee a day..
But you don't need to give it up completely...
