Question by Oxana: Are there chloroplasts in coffee beans? I need to know if coffee beans themselves (NOT the plant or the skin around the coffee beans) contain chloroplasts for a science project.
I think they do have chloroplasts. They are green before they are roasted, and they are seeds. Since the embryos within seeds need to photosynthesize eventually, they must have some chloroplasts.
No. Coffee beans have no need for chloroplasts since they don't need to photosynthesize.
